We are equal parts honored and excited to be releasing this Earth-shattering EP by the one and only, illanthropy. This up-and-comer from Asheville, NC has been gaining loads of momentum the past few years with his dynamic production, unforgettable live sets, and overall purposefulness in his art, and this new EP is the perfect representation of why he has been receiving so much praise. ‘Daycrawler’ is a juxtaposition to daywalker, an homage to the long days and late nights that are an unavoidable part of an aspiring musician’s life. illanthropy takes us all over the spectrum of bass music with these 8 songs, and the collection as a whole tells quite the story from start to finish. At times you’ll feel the emotional weight fueling illanthropy’s art, as the melodies tug at the heart strings and take you through his meticulously crafted sonic atmospheres. He has a way of manifesting these worlds of sound to evoke emotional experiences in the listener that is undeniably powerful, especially when combined with occasional moments of balls-to-the-walls heaviness that serve as tasteful releases of the built up emotions. illanthropy also shows off his experimental chops and delves into the darker side of sound manipulation, demonstrating just how versatile he is.
